  1. Please take a moment to review the conference rules.

  3. The VIRUS_INFO conference is dedicated to the exchange of information
  4. about detecting and removing computer viruses, methods, tools and
  5. techniques to recover from viruses and announcements of newly
  6. discovered viruses. Of course, all questions will be entertained,
  7. but let's try to keep the conference area focused.
  8.  
  9. The following is *NOT* allowed in this conference:
  10.  
  11. o Messages in any other language than ENGLISH.
  12. o Messages unrelated to the topic of this conference.
  13. o Messages with a derogatory, insulting, discriminating, racist or
  14.   sexist content.
  15. o Messages attesting to the authenticity of a file/product (or its 
  16.   contents) unless granted permission by agents for that file/product.
  17. o Political or religious discussions.
  18. o Private communications. All messages are supposed to be publicly
  19.   readable. Use NETMAIL for personal messages.
  20. o Commercial messages. Availability announcements for anti-virus
  21.   products are okay, blatant commercials are NOT.
  22. o Using false names when posting messages in this conference. Each user's
  23.   real name must be used when posting (not just signing).  We all like to
  24.   know who we are dealing with.
  25. o Descriptions to build viruses. This includes methods and techniques,
  26.   source code, disassemblies or other detailed info that could be used to
  27.   make a variety of an existing viruses or a new virus. This includes
  28.   asking, offering or exchanging viruses via this area.
  29. o Unfounded accusations of virus making or virus distribution against
  30.   people or organizations (i.e. no messages stating "Paul did it").
  31. o Flames and personal insults. We've seen too much BS in other conferences
  32.   due to personal flames... please let's keep this pollution out of -our-
  33.   area...

  35. The following items *ARE* allowed and ENCOURAGED:
  36.  
  37. o General information about methods and techniques to prevent, detect,
  38.   recover from or remove viruses.
  39. o General description of the inner workings and properties of viruses.
  40. o Virus warnings and news about newly discovered viruses. Please be
  41.   sure not to violate any copyrights when you post information from
  42.   other sources (press, radio, TV and other networks).
  43. o Descriptions of and experiences with the many anti-virus programs
  44.   now available.
  45. o Reports on virus infections, how you discovered it, what you did to
  46.   get rid of the virus and how you saved your data (or not...).
  47.  
  48. Please keep this conference on topic, business-like and informative!
  49.  
  50. Note: Leave moderating to the moderator. If you feel you should flame
  51. or otherwise chastise someone, do so by NETMAIL. If you do not agree
  52. with a decision of the moderator, discuss the issue VIA NETMAIL with
  53. the moderator.
